Music marketing

Our music marketing project began with envisioning our artist. The entire project revolved around the aesthetic and vibe of the artist because we wanted to market her as much as possible. We first began with some research of how other famous artist market their music and brand. We each studied a different artist and shared the information with one another. All of these artists have different marketing strategies but all have their own stylistic personal aesthetic that fits them and their music.

After gathering all the information we developed our own marketing tactics to use for our artist. We made her relatable for young females but original in her personality and art. As we were thinking of how to market our artist we began to think about our music video. We wanted the tone to capture the character of the artist herself because it is her first music video. Before it was released we started activating the social medias and websites to fit like the title and cover of the single.

The biggest challenges in all of this project was coming to an agreement on everything. We also had to find creative ways to film plus places to film at because we did not have a huge amount of resources like real artists do. We really had to use what we had and making it look good was the most difficult part. Personally, since I played the artist in the video, the hardest part was finding differences between her and I. We had to find a way to combine all of our ideas into one amazing artist.

Representation

The Percy Jackson franchise was a series of books that have developed into movies and a TV show made to take its stories to the screen. The main character was made to represent people with Dyslexia and ADHD showing it as a strength instead of a weakness. The author decided to represent all the children of Greek Gods with Dyslexia and ADHD because they need to be in constant alert of danger and be able to read Greek. In the book the author also chose to represent the Gods as normal human sized instead of giants originally. He did this to show how they behave and think just like humans because they make mistakes and aren’t perfect.

The books take place in modern day which was the 2000s and although Ancient Greek history is old the stories are not. The characters like the Gods and the creatures are from the mythical world and the past but they are represented as if they were born in the 21st century. When the gods are described to be in their casual appearance they are always wearing something modern like when Posieden wears a button up beach shirt. Another example is when Aphrodite molds into the most beautiful woman on Earth and changes depending on the person viewing her to fit their perception of beauty. The Gods are all represented as absent parents and therefore bad parents to their demigod children.

The events that happened in past Grecian history is held as truth in the books. The Greek fables are taught as lessons as well and presented as real. The events like Medusa being cursed by Athena is part of the history of the Gods and is present in issues involving Athenas demigod daughter Annabeth. A big difference between ancient Greek history and the books is that the books take place in New York and the USA instead of Athens because mount Olympus has moved to the Empire State Building. The books do have an addition to the Gods’ city which is Camp half-blood; a camp where the demigods are safe.

The issues in Percy Jackson are all issues between the Gods and the demigods are meant to resolve them. This is represent this way because it revolves around powerful ones like Percy and Annabeth who have to fight together to save the world. For example: in the first book Percy must return Zeus’ bolt because he is blamed for taking it only because he is the son of Poseidon. Percy is a forbidden child which means he should’ve never been born because he would be too powerful.
