Schedule change/ story development

So for part of the music video and photoshoot I had said we were going Monday March 24 but that has now changed to Tuesday because of scheduling issues. I have also asked my friend Sol who is also an actress to be in the music video as part of Jack’s love interest in the story.

Throughout the song Jack sings lyrics like “I’m not here” and in the music video I want to capture that feeling that he sings about since the song is not particularly happy nor completely sad more like disassociating from reality. So a perfect way to capture this emotion by showing him disassociate from his relationship with the girl in the music video (played by Sol). And the reason he would be disassociating is because all he thinks about is making music and just wants to be better.

Since this is a promotional music video I want to show him as an artist playing all the instruments, but I also wanted a story not an extremely complicated one, but just something audiences can hang onto and let them know how serious Jack is about music. In the film whiplash, Andrew, the protagonist breaks off his relationship because he just wants to be an artist so I thought it would be fitting to attach that story to Jack since he is an upcoming artist.

So the music video would begin with a wide shot of the studio and Jack picking up the bass and starting to play it which would begin the song. Then, as he starts to play it little clips here and there of the ocean and the beach would play. I chose the ocean as a location because it is a place thought of as freeing which is what the persona of Jack is seeking through music so it is a symbol for this.

After The introduction I would introduce Sol and insert clips of Sol and Jack doing things on the beach together to show that they are in love in the moment. Then, as these clips are showing, Jack starts to pick up more instruments in the music studio to symbolize, he is slowly disassociating from his relationship and associating into the music and becoming an artist.

By the end of the music video, he is going to drive away from the beach and drive home into the studio and pick up the last instrument and start playing to show how this is who he is now.

A lot of my inspiration comes from whiplash a little from momento with the interconnecting storylines and foo fighters.
